There follows details of how we would work together as part of the one-to-one Platinum coaching programme.
Step 1
I send you the following to read and complete and return with a copy of your CV and an example application:
- TCS Questionnaire – this gets you to think about key things to include in your applications and helps me get a fuller picture of you and your achievements
Step 2
I conduct my initial review of your application documents and your answers to the TCS Questionnaire.
Step 3
We arrange our first telephone consultation to include:
- Getting to know you and assessing which strengths to focus on in your applications
- Analysis of your current circumstances and your future aspirations
- Guidance on how to choose which firms to apply to and which areas of law to focus on (if necessary)
- Review of all relevant education, work experience and extra-curricular activities and an analysis of what to focus the applications around
- How to present a professional looking application and avoid the common mistakes
This initial telephone consultation usually takes around one hour.
Step 4
After the telephone consultation, I conduct a comprehensive written review of your current CV and covering letter and/or completed application form (depending on which firms you intend to apply to) – suggested changes/additions are advised by email and using the Microsoft Word track changes functionality.
Step 5
You produce redrafts of your application documents based on our discussions and the written advice and suggested changes. You email these revised documents to me for further review.
Step 6
I conduct another comprehensive review of your redrafted application documents and schedule a further telephone consultation with you.
Step 7
Telephone consultation to discuss the redrafts and my suggested changes, to answer any outstanding queries and to provide the basis for you to produce further revised drafts.
This telephone consultation should take around half an hour but we can take longer if needed.
Step 8
After the telephone consultation, I conduct a further written review of your redrafted documents – once again, suggested changes/additions are advised by email and using the Microsoft Word track changes functionality.
Step 9
You produce further redrafts based on our further discussions and the written advice and suggested changes. You email these revised documents to me for further review.
Step 10
I conduct a final review of the latest revised drafts and advise on final changes/additions by email – sometimes it is more appropriate to schedule another telephone call as well.
You will then be in position to finalise your application documents for submission to law firms for training contract jobs.
